Lee and Dianne Dunn contracted alpacitis in 1998. Dunnhill Alpacas was born with the purchase of four pregnant huacaya females. We established our herd on our five acre property in Leppington (near Camden) with an excellent female to male ratio of cria.
In 2003 we decided we needed to expand and moved to Canyonleigh, located in the Southern Highlands in New South Wales.
Canyonleigh is in the vicinity of Arthursleigh where the first alpacas were located after their importation from South America.
Come and visit us at Canyonleigh located within the picturesque Southern Highlands. Combine your visit to our farm with a tour of the local wineries, a visit to the nearby historic township of Berrima or the cosmopolitan town of Bowral. Please contact us to arrange a visit to our farm and to obtain directions.
We now have a herd of approximately 100 alpacas on 38 hectares (approximately 100 acres). Some of these animals are agistees’ that have chosen to take advantage of the quality services that we provide. Our property is on the Johnes MAP and we currently have MN2 status.
Dunnhill Alpacas place a premium on our quality white alpacas but strive through our breeding principles to improve the quality of the coloured animals within the herd. In 2005 Dunnhill Alpacas became an Associate Member of the SRS® Alpaca Breeding System.
Our herd is supplementary fed every afternoon and kept in smaller secure night paddocks with a Maremma guard dog.
Limited agistment is available. New or future interested breeders are welcome to visit our farm and / or discuss alpaca husbandry with us.
